Shadforth Named as Finalists!

2024 IECA Environmental Excellence Awards.

Shadforth are proud to announce our achievement as a finalist in the prestigious 2024 IECA Environmental Excellence Awards, which recognise outstanding contributions to environmental excellence in erosion and sediment control. The project behind this achievement is the SkyRidge development, located in the beautiful landscapes of the Gold Coast Hinterland at Worongary.

SkyRidge is a large-scale urban development that has pushed the boundaries of what is possible in erosion and sediment control (ESC), setting new standards within the industry. From its inception, the project faced the challenges of steep topography and complex staging, making it a unique and demanding undertaking.

In 2022, the SkyRidge project encountered significant challenges, which Shadforth met head-on with innovation, determination, and hard work. This led to the formation of a dedicated ESC Crew and the implementation of advanced ESC strategies. The crew, equipped with state-of-the-art tools and guided by Certified Professionals in Erosion and Sediment Control (CPESC), significantly enhanced the site's approach to environmental management.

Shadforth's success is not solely its own, but as result of a collaborative effort. The company worked closely with ESC industry design experts and environmental advisors to ensure that every unique challenge of the SkyRidge project was addressed. The team's commitment to excellence is epitomised by its use of innovative sediment basins, adaptive management practices, and meticulous planning.

The commitment to best practice ESC at SkyRidge has not only set new standards in the industry, but also significantly benefited the environment and the local community. The project's use of site-won materials, such as 130,000 tonnes of rock, and the reuse of topsoil have eliminated thousands of heavy vehicle movements, thereby reducing the project's environmental footprint. Additionally, Shadforth's engagement with the community through educational initiatives and industry workshops has fostered a sense of shared responsibility and success.

The recognition of SkyRidge as a finalist in the IECA Environmental Excellence Awards underscores Shadforth's role as a leader in sustainable development. The project models how environmental challenges can be met with innovative and effective solutions, offering valuable lessons for the industry. This acknowledgment not only celebrates the success of the SkyRidge project, but also highlights Shadforth's ongoing commitment to protecting and enhancing the natural environment in every project they undertake.

As Shadforth continues to set new benchmarks in environmental management, this recognition by the IECA is a proud moment for the company.
