Our Story
With over 60 years of experience, Shadforth has established itself as a leader in the civil construction industry.
Shadforth is one of the largest privately owned civil contractors in Australia, with operations spanning across Queensland and Northern New South Wales. For over 60 years, we’ve been shaping communities by delivering sustainable residential communities, commercial and industrial subdivisions, government infrastructure projects, as well as key mining and renewable energy infrastructure projects.
The Shadforth story began in 1964 when founder Peter Shadforth and his brother John started civil contracting together in North Queensland. What started as a small family venture has grown into one of Australia’s leading privately owned civil contractors. Today, Peter’s nephew Ray carries the legacy forward, leading the business with the same hands-on approach and clear direction. Under his leadership, Shadforth has expanded across Queensland and Northern New South Wales, taking on larger and more complex projects while continuing to deliver for clients through collaboration and long-term partnerships.
Today, Shadforth operates using a “self-delivery” construction model, giving greater control over project delivery outcomes. This is supported by our in-house teams; compliance, survey, pre-contracts, information technology, risk and workshop. These teams are fully integrated within the business, ensuring our construction teams are fully supported and equipped to deliver safe, high-quality results.
We’ve grown through hard work, strong relationships, and a deep connection to the communities where we work. It’s this foundation that continues to drive our success, and yours.
