Rotary Club of SEQ Wildlife Rescue

Kangaroo Shelter Project

Shadforth is proud to support the Rotary Club of SEQ Wildlife Rescue in the development of a new wildlife rehabilitation and release area in South-East Queensland.

Wildlife rescue organisations across the region continue to experience increasing demand as population growth and development place additional pressure on native habitats. Animals such as kangaroos and wallabies often require extended periods of care before they can safely return to the wild, making suitable rehabilitation and release environments critical to their recovery.

The project came about through Shadforth’s involvement with SEQ Wildlife Rescue on several projects. As construction commences on site, Shadforth work with wildlife rescue representatives to assist in minimising, protecting and relocating any impacted wildlife. Through this process, a strong working relationship was formed, which opened discussions around how the development industry could further support wildlife rescue efforts across the region.

Through these discussions, an opportunity was identified to assist with the establishment of a dedicated area where rescued wildlife can be rehabilitated and gradually prepared for release. The site adjoins natural bushland, providing an ideal environment for animals to transition from care back into their natural habitat.

Shadforth have supported the project by contributing materials and assisting with early works to help establish the infrastructure required for the shelter area. The team has also continued to work alongside wildlife rescue representatives during project activities to ensure native wildlife is appropriately managed and supported when development occurs.

This involvement forms part of Shadforth’s broader commitment to responsible development, where environmental considerations and strong community partnerships are embedded in how projects are delivered. By supporting initiatives such as this, Shadforth help ensure that wildlife rescue organisations have the resources and infrastructure needed to rehabilitate animals and return them safely to the wild.

Once operational, the facility will support wildlife carers in providing a more suitable environment for rehabilitation, while improving the process of preparing native wildlife for release.
