Providence West: Project Milestone
Shadforth has reached another major milestone for Stockland at Providence West, completing 277 residential lots at Lacebark ahead of schedule and laying the groundwork for more than 2,000 future homes.
Spanning 57 hectares and 3.5 kilometres, the works represent a significant first stage in Stockland's Providence West development, delivering essential civil infrastructure to support the growing Ripley community.
With extensive bulk earthworks, challenging ground conditions and complex road upgrades, the project required careful planning, coordination and the expertise of our people to deliver a successful outcome.
A Major Earthworks Operation
The scale of works across Lacebark and the connector road was substantial, with approximately 643,000m³ of bulk cut-to-fill completed, alongside an additional 100,000–150,000m³ of over-excavation and refilling to remove rock and prepare the ground for future homeowners.
More than 30,000m² of road pavements were also delivered as part of the works.
At peak construction, the project brought together a workforce of 145 people operating more than 80 pieces of plant, including 10 dozers, 35 articulated dump trucks, two graders and three crushers.
The team's productivity was equally impressive, with a peak of 9,500m³ of material exported and placed in a single day.
Delivering Complex Road Infrastructure
A key component of the project involved constructing a new four-lane connector road and roundabout through extremely hard 80MPa blue sandstone, with works taking place alongside an operating childcare centre.
The team also delivered a significant upgrade to the Ripley Road / Providence Parade intersection, including 6,560m² of pavement, 2,985 tonnes of asphalt and the installation of new traffic signals.
Working within an existing road corridor presented additional challenges, with drainage installed at depths of three to four metres, alongside the relocation of power, telecommunications, gas and trunk water services.
Maintaining access was a key priority, with the intersection reopened to traffic each day while construction progressed.
These works required careful staging, coordination and planning to safely deliver the upgrades while minimising disruption to the surrounding community.
Ahead of Schedule, Through Teamwork
Despite the scale and complexity of the works, both Lacebark and the Ripley Road / Providence Parade intersection upgrades were completed ahead of schedule.
This achievement reflects the experience and capability of our project team, along with the strong working relationship between Shadforth and Stockland and the collaborative efforts of our subcontractors, consultants and project partners.
From managing large-scale earthworks and challenging ground conditions to coordinating critical infrastructure upgrades, the project demonstrates Shadforth's ability to deliver complex civil construction works while maintaining a strong focus on safety, quality and programme.
With the first 277 residential lots delivered and more than 2,000 future lots planned, Providence West represents another important contribution to the growing communities of South East Queensland.
Congratulations to everyone involved in reaching this milestone and thank you to Stockland for the opportunity to contribute to another significant community development.
