Symphony Way
Scope of Works
Shadforth was engaged to deliver a 1.6km trunk road linking Harmony Estate to the Bruce Highway Service Road. This vital second connection into Harmony addressed long-standing access limitations and supports the growing Palmview community. The project included significant road and drainage infrastructure, such as upgrades to the Pignata Road signalised underpass, installation of multicell RCBC structures within waterways to ensure fish passage, and extensive stormwater drainage networks. Key works also delivered new pavements, kerb and footpaths, and more than 500m of koala fencing to protect local wildlife.
Challenges and Innovations
The project faced the dual pressures of a strict completion deadline and delivering works within a highly sensitive environmental setting. To mitigate weather delays, Shadforth implemented precast stormwater pits in place of traditional in-situ methods, enabling immediate backfilling and accelerating pavement construction. This innovation kept the program on track despite challenging conditions. Further complexities included utility relocations, construction within mapped waterways, and measures to protect koala habitats adjacent to Palmview Conservation Park.
