National Disaster Relief and Recovery Arrangements | Whitsunday Region

Client: Queensland Department of Transport and Main Roads (DTMR)

Project overview: The Queensland Department of Transport and Main Roads (DTMR) contracted Shadforth to undertake repair and rehabilitation of its road network in the Whitsunday region following unprecedented damage caused by monsoonal rain and tropical cyclones in early 2010, which was further exacerbated by 2011 flood events.

Pavement rehabilitation and associated works were carried out on various sections of the Bruce Highway between Carmila and Proserpine, generally on the existing alignment and under traffic. The length of rehabilitation in Package 4 was 21km over 12 separate sections, with the design and configuration of all traffic management undertaken by Shadforth.

Shadforth also completed a separate National Disaster Relief and Recovery Arrangements project totalling $92 million in the Mackay region.
