QLD Women in Construction - Advisory Committee

Shadforth’s Senior HR Manager Rebecca Callow became a proud member of the QLD Women in Construction Committee in 2023.

Traditionally, the Construction Industry has functioned as a male-dominated field, whereby highlighting an opportunity to challenge the industry norm in the direction of inclusivity. A newly formed group - QLD Women in Construction Advisory Committee with Construction skills QLD (CSQ), are committing to increasing the contribution of women in the sector.

The committee is collaborating with industry experts, employers, and advocates for initiatives to improve the workplace environment to attract more women into the sector. Shadforth Human Resource Manager, Rebecca Callow, has been nominated and serves for the Women in Construction Advisory Committee. Rebecca will bring a wealth of experience and knowledge to the committee, and her contributions will help to advance its mission.

The Women in Construction Advisory Committee is an important step towards increasing female participation in the construction industry. The committee's role is to identify barriers that prevent women from entering and advancing in the sector, and develop strategies to address them. It also aims to promote the industry as an attractive career option for women.

The construction industry is facing a skills shortage, and increasing the participation of women in the sector is essential to address this issue.
